Repeat Sentence feels like it should be about memory. It isn't — it's scored on how naturally and completely you reproduce what you heard, and short-term memory tricks fall apart under exam pressure.

Chunk, don't memorise

Instead of trying to hold the whole sentence in your head, break it into 3–4 word chunks as you listen. Most PTE sentences are built from natural phrase groups — train your ear to catch those groups, not individual words.

  • Listen for the subject-verb-object skeleton first
  • Fill in modifiers and detail second
  • Practise with sentences slightly above your comfort level, not below it

In batch, we run daily Repeat Sentence drills using this chunking method, with recorded playback so you can hear exactly where fluency breaks down.
